The technique of stick and place that we are going to talk about consists of making the stick and putting the graft (place), is a way to face the FUSS technique of capillary grafting. Being a fast and precise movement in which the surgeon makes the incision and the specialist technique introduces the follicular units taking advantage of this maneuver.

What are the phases in the implantation of the follicles?

In the FUSS (Follicular Unit Strip Surgery) technique, a scalp strip is obtained from the donor site at the occipito-temporal level, by means of a simple surgical maneuver (extraction phase). Visit our clinic hair transplant Islamabad

Subsequently, the preparation phase of the hair follicles is passed through high resolution microscopy, allowing preservation of the anatomical and functional integrity of the follicular units. At this stage, the follicles are preserved under appropriate conditions of temperature and hydration to ensure their viability, before moving to the final stage. do you know about Q-FUE Technique The Advanced Technology?

The last phase of the process is the implantation of follicular units with high precision instruments.  This instrument allows realizing micro incisions with the appropriate angle and direction to obtain optimal results.

In the implantation phase, the follicular units can be grafted in the receiving area in two different ways:

Previously the incisions are made to later introduce the grafts.

Or you can choose to use the stick and place technique.

When is this FUSS technique indicated with “stick and place”?

The indication of this technique can be twofold:

On the one hand, it can be used to make the whole intervention with FUSS technique.  In this way it can be used, when the alopecia is diffuse and there is high risk of injuring the follicles around, given the existing density. Obviously, if the alopecia area is clear and extensive, it is opted to make the incisions first by considerably reducing this risk.

On the other hand, it can be used at the end of the intervention with FUSS technique.  After having done the initial part with the previous incisions, the objective is to finish filling the small spaces that may have remained. So the aesthetic and density effect is enhanced.

This combination of the two techniques is the one we usually use more in our clinic.
